It was all I could do to keep myself from giggling out loud the entire drive home.
We had just purchased a 1953 Catolac Deville camper trailer off of Craigslist.
A canned ham, vintage trailer, cutie patootie, curved walls and all, camper!!!
The view from the back.
There was just one teensy weensy, itty bitty, teeny tiny, problem.
After carefully backing our ‘new’ trailer into our driveway for the first time, we discovered the first of what would be hundreds of “huckleberry engineering” performed by the previous owner that just didn’t hold up.
A window we had thought was secure, had fallen out on the ride home. (We think it was freshly glued into place that morning with silicon caulk.) My husband was NOT happy – but after a quick trip to Lowe’s and some Dremel work to shape the plexiglass to fit the frame, he had it fixed and installed properly.
And so began what would be a long list of discovered “huckleberry engineering” and making lemonade out of lemons. The kids couldn’t be more excited with our new project and were pointing out camper trailers with enthusiasm every where we went. We even found this adorable welcome mat at World Market.
